Ms Donne Descroizilles

Donne is a physiotherapist who has worked in the field of paediatric neurodevelopment therapy for her entire career of 36 years.

She is currently a SANDTA tutor and presents both the Foundation and Introduction to CP course.

She is an advocate for children living with disabilities and their families.

Prof Malcolm Collins

Malcolm Collins is a Professor within the Department of Human Biology at the University of Cape Town (UCT). 

He obtained a BSc degree majoring in Biochemistry and Human Physiology from Stellenbosch University in South Africa.  In 1988 in received a BSc (Hons) degree Cum Laude in Biochemistry, also from Stellenbosch University, followed by a PhD in Medical Biochemistry on collagen gene expression from the UCT in 1993.

Ms Hester van Aswegen

Hester van Aswegen is a physiotherapist with a special interest in pelvic floor dysfunction and pelvic health.

She graduated from Pretoria University in 1987 and has been in private practice since 1991.

She is currently working in Johannesburg at various premises (Roodepoort, Douglasdale and Wits Donald Gordon medical centre) where her main patient load is patients with pelvic problems. This includes women and men and all types of pelvic related conditions – urinary and faecal incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse, anorectal dysfunction and constipation, all types of pelvic pain, sexual dysfunction as well as ante and post-natal patients .

Dr Wendy Holliday

Wendy Holliday is a physiotherapist with more than ten years of clinical experience and recently completed her PhD in Exercise Science at the University of Cape Town. She combines her physiotherapy background with her PhD knowledge to conduct medical bike fits with Ergofit, Science to Sport, based in Cape Town.

Dr Megan Dutton

Megan completed her B.PhysT (with distinction) at the University of Pretoria in 2004. Her career as a physiotherapist started at the High Performance Centre, Pretoria where she had the privilege of working with numerous elite athletes and national teams (amongst others: SA Netball, SA Rowing, SA Men’s and Women’s Hockey).

During her tenure at the HPC she formed part of the medical team used by Cricket South Africa for their annual National Academy. This later manifested in her appointment as the team physiotherapist for the CSA Women’s (2008-2012) and U19 Men’s (2010-2014) Cricket Teams, respectively; culminating in her attendance at four ODI World Cups (2014: Winners), two T20 World Cups and numerous local and international series’.

Dr Steve Carter

Dr Steve Carter is an orthopaedic hand surgeon with 20 years’ experience in the surgical treatment of hand conditions. He obtained his MBChB in 1990 and FCS (SA) Orthopaedic Fellowship in 1999. He is also a Gold Medal Fellowship Candidate (Top Orthopaedic Candidate in South Africa).

Dr Richard von Bormann is a specialist arthroscopic and reconstructive knee surgeon, who is trained and experienced in all aspects of knee surgery.

He is University of Cape Town Medical School trained with Fellowships in Knee Surgery at the North Sydney Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Centre, University of Pittsburgh,Harvard Medical School and the Boston Children’s Hospital..

Mr Rowan Thorpe

Rowan is an Advanced Practice Physiotherapist (APP) working in London.

He graduated with his B.Sc in Physiotherapy from UCT in 2011 before going on to complete his M.Phil in Exercise and Sports Physiotherapy in 2017, where he was awarded a distinction for his dissertation.

Prof Andrew Bosch

Professor Andrew Bosch is an Exercise Scientist based at the University of Cape Town and Sports Science Institute of South Africa, lecturing on exercise physiology and sports nutrition and conducting and supervising research on these topics.

An NRF-rated scientist, Professor Bosch has published over 90 peer reviewed scientific manuscripts in the field of exercise performance and sports nutrition in international journals, written a number of book chapters on these topics, presented at national and international scientific conferences and serves on the editorial boards of international exercise & sports medicine journals.

Dr Alison Lupton-Smith

Alison qualified as a physiotherapist from the University of Cape Town in 2007 and obtained her PhD at UCT in 2017.

She is currently a full-time lecturer in the Division of Physiotherapy at Stellenbosch University.
